Steve Renshaw has advised on the Axiom site adjacent to junction 32 of the M62 in Castleford, West Yorkshire for over a decade. This originally involved securing consent for the largest out-of-town retail planning permission in the UK in over 20 years and the largest ever retail planning permission secured in the green belt. This was achieved without call-in by the Secretary of State.
Following the significant structural change that has occurred in the retail market since the original Axiom planning permission was received in 2015, the site has been re-purposed to provide hybrid planning permission for a high-quality employment and logistics development with direct motorway access creating over 2,000 new jobs, new public open space and biodiversity enhancements and cross-funding for improvements to Castleford Tigers stadium.
